Di Carafa Restaurant is located in Old Bakery Street Valletta. It is family owned and run by the Zammit family.
Owner and chef Jesus presents a very interesting menu made from the freshest local produce. This reflects in the taste of the food. New items are added to the main menu depending on what is available.
This is a small restaurant so booking is recommended.
We were there for lunch to celebrate my brother's birthday. Fresh cheeslets and olives were complimentary.
Here are some of the dishes we had;
Rizzi (sea urchins) roe on small round toasts, a fresh and taste of the sea. The neonati balls full of flavour. Pasta with vongole (clams) in a rich sauce, Veal cutlet on the bone a very generous portion, I had fish, a dentax, baked in foil with clams, mussels and a prawn. Very fresh, light and tasty. All dishes were accompanied with grilled veg and roast potatoes.
The chocolate and caramel cake is really good and is served with vanilla ice cream.
Complimentary liqueurs were offered. The prices are above the average price but reasonable for this restaurant which guarantees the best food prepared with the freshest of ingredients.
Highly recommended .

A fantastic menu without equal in Malta; the crudo platter composition is exquisite, the mains and the deserts are wonderfully tasty. A highly recommended stop for anyone in Valletta

First time at this restaurant but definately not the last. The food is very good.. cooked to perfection. Had the octopus as a starter, a couple of oysters and fish as a main course. Everything was so good! The place is small and cosy and the host was very friendly and caring. Price average although compared to other restaurants selling fish its quite cheap! Well done and keep it up ... recommend it !!

Visited on our first night in malta and wasnt disappointed. Had 3 course which were all cooked to perfection. Menu is ever changing via a chalk board on the wall which was well explained by the waitress. Unfortunately didnt have high chairs but we had a pushchair to use as a substitute for our baby. Really nice romantic and rustic setting. Service was great and staff were very friendly who were happy to chat about our trip and make future recommendations. Tuna carpaccio for starter was divine and veal for main was absolutely delicious. Hoghly recommended

Hadn’t been to Di Carafa for quite a while. Happy to note that Di Carafa has maintained standards and even improved the choice of starters. All items were freshly prepared and this was reflected in the taste. We ordered Melanzane, Fried Cheeslets, Rabbit Liver and Fried Calamari to start. All were divine. For mains we opted for Fillets of Meagre, Tomahawk and Fillet Steaks. Again, everything was extremely good. Well done to the chef and the friendly crew.

The experience of our dinner can only be described as incredible.
The level of service has been really high, the staff was well prepared and quick and one of the waiter also provided us with tips about the places to visit in Malta.
High quality of starters and first and second dishes. We had the chance to try the octopus, the fish of the day and the tagliatelle with vongole and every dish was well cooked with fresh fish and the portions were perfect. The desert was a local patisserie dish which represented the sweet note of our dinner.
I recommend you to pass by this local restaurant if you are in Valletta to enjoy the Maltese cuisine ;)

We called here on a Monday evening and there were tables available.
I started with fish cakes, companion had rabbit liver. Both were great, the textures of the fish cakes was really good.
For ma had Ribeye companion had veal, again, both dishes were really good, full of flavour and cooked nicely.
The wine list is extensive.
The staff were great, helpful polite and knowledgeable.
A good evening out.

After going for lunch with some local friends, I decided to take some colleagues - who had flown in from abroad - a few days later in the same week. After the second meal at Di Carafa, I decided to dine there once again (alone this time) the following night for one last time before flying back home.
Over three visits I was able to try various items as we shared starters - and I tried some items more than once. The food was consistently good and it's hard to pick a single dish, but the rottoli starter stands out for being uncommon and really tasty, while the tartufo steak sauce deserves a review all of its own. And if you're not sure what to get for dessert, you'll thank me for recommending the white chocolate fondant. It's exceedingly appetising.
On top of the quality of the food is the ambience and Jes and his team, who offer a very warm service and are always happy to assist and make recommendations. It honestly feels like they are enjoying themselves and they all made us feel like we were guests in their own homes.
I will be back in Malta for Christmas and I am looking forward to seeing them all again.

We saw this restaurant from tripadvisor and we were curious to visit! We were totally impressed by the amazing, delicious food we ate. We had some fresh oysters to share they were so fresh tasting like sea! Then for mains we took beef tagliata which was cooked to perfection and the quality of the meat was really good. A big welldone to the owner who is the chef. He came up after the service checking all the customers and offer us a drink on the house. The service was very efficient and friendly.
We can rate this place 5 stars

We visit this restaurant very frequently, cause everything here is very genuine.
Such a quiet small place with a very good portion of food. The staff there they are all very friendly and helpful. As a main we took spaghetti Lobster which was out of this world! Obviously the most important thing overall is the food which was heavenly tasteful. Everything is so freshly prepared and the quality of food is 10 plus! The prices are very reasonable and affordable.
I highly recommend this restaurant to all out there , its a big must to visit in Valletta.

Although I ordered a simple starter of baked aubergine, it took 30 minutes to arrive. The wine list is extensive and only lists bottles, although wine by the glass is available but I had to ask twice before it arrived. This is a small restaurant (20 covers) with one waiter. The menu is on a blackboard and is very limited for main courses. Prices are generally excessive but the quality of the food is good. They seem to have adopted London type prices, i.e. too expensive for what they offer. These sort of prices (over €30 for a main course) might be right for fine dining but not for bistro food. Overall an average experience.
