While on our honeymoon, my husband and I went to 59 Republic as our special “one-week anniversary” dinner. We had the best time and and still talk about it to this day. The restaurant is small, but nice and not overly crowded. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Their wine and sparkling wine menu was lengthy, but with purpose and well thought out. And, the food. Oh, the food. I had an out-of-this-world, emotional experience when enjoying their risotto and ravioli and have never been able to find risotto nor ravioli that beats theirs.

Nice ambiance but food was too pricey for what it was. Steak had far too much gristle, mushrooms ravioli were far too salty, mini doughnuts were uncooked at the centre. Presentation was good though.

Limited but delicious intl menu. Decent wine list, sadly too few aged local wines. Excellent Fish Soup and Beef Wellington. Attentive service. Tastefully decorated. Nice atmosphere.

Fifty Nine Republic provides the best overall dining experience in Malta. The menu provides a variety of well conceived and finely executed dishes; it's easy to eat here often without repeating (although you'll likely have favorites you order every visit). The design and lighting create an intimate, inviting environment, and the service is attentive without hovering. 59 delivers every time!

What a wonderful place to enjoy dinner. An innovative and very well prepared menu a very attentive and knowledgeable staff. Try the tacos and beef Wellington. We hope that fois Gras will return to the menus soon!

We decided it was time to try a restaurant as it was a birthday. If I'm honest I did have my reservations but everything went so well. Not only has the restaurant adjusted to exceed the required regulations, the food was out of this world. So if you fancy a gorgeous meal in a very safe environment here's your place. Both inside and out tables are vastly spread. Service was excellent and as I said food fantastic. Thank you for the best service and evening will definitely return.

We went there with my family and we all had different dishes. Every single dish was wonderful, my personal favourite being ravioli for starter and the duck for main course. And of course the dates for dessert ❤
All the food was fresh, and had some local twist to it. To top it all off, the chef personally came to greet us, and were very patient, polite and provided great service
Will definetly visit again!

First time visited the place and surely won’t be the last. Everything is exceptional from service to food. One have to try for himself as no review can describe their food. Simpy amazing

We visited here with friends twice - once for lunch and then for dinner, as we’d enjoyed it so much. The food was of excellent quality, superbly cooked and fastidiously presented. Service was discreet and efficient and there was a good wine list. We’d go again in a heartbeat if we had the chance to visit Valletta again.

Every time we visit it's an experience. the food is amazing and the service is always impeccable.
We also love the decor and the fact that it's a small and private restaurant.
Lighting is also perfect.
We particularly love the table next to the door. :)

The meat options are to die for. The place is suitable for all occasions, ranging from business, romantic, and large events.

An excellent dinner by a great chef Maria. The service was great, very attentive, friendly and not intrusive. The ambience very warm and romantic. The food was out of this world and the tastes very well balanced. I had Duo of Duck (liver pâté and smoked duck carpaccio) as starter, followed by Argentian Filled topped up with the pan seared Foie Gras. I also had the inhouse sausage on the side. To finish all this I had the Mini Donoughts with a side of Baileys Caramel.
I highly recommend this restaurant. Well done to all the team involved. Keep up your great standards.

We were very fortunate to choose 59 Republic for a very special occasion for a group of 35. Communication and planning was easy beforehand. Andrew & co were very accommodating and proactive with suggestions as to how to prepare for our event. Service on the day was excellent and food was exceptional. Our guests loved the set menu we chose and we all had a very memorable day. Thank you for making our day even more special!

This Saturday was our anniversary. An obvious choice was this restaurant which has everything you ever dream of having when you're out to dine. Congratulations to the chef and all the staff. Perfect evening as always

It is rare to visit a restaurant twice and both times find absolutely nothing you'd fault or change, but 59 Republic did just that. Although on the pricier side, they still strike a good balance between cost, quality and quantity of the meal.
The atmosphere is unique, with electric 'lamps' on every table for a modern touch. This is an upmarket restaurant, but not one with all the 'frills' like needing to go in formal attire and servers constantly circling you (something I myself do not enjoy!). There is that balance too; one which suits the area it is located in.
The Pasta Special with Fillet and Wild Mushroom was great, and the Beef Wellington even better; and the dessert closing off the meal impeccably. While the menu is a little bit small compared to the norm, it reflects the small size of the restaurant, and their ability to prepare this small number of dishes with great attention to detail each time is definitely applaudable. Presentation of the food was impeccable too, along with the service - always prompt and with a smile; with the waiter even recognising us from our first visit a few weeks prior! Overall, highly recommended restaurant for simply a good night out, without a doubt you would not leave disappointed!

We had a lovely meal in this restaurant. The ambience is wonderful - you feel you are in a magical wood. The food was excellent, the staff lovely and the cost truly reflected the value of our experience.

My husband and I dined here on 30th December on the recommendation of our hotel and we were not disappointed. The decor is contemporary and very comfortable. The food was delicious and we thought very reasonably priced for the quality. However, for us, what was outstanding was the service we experienced- everyone was professional and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. We left the restaurant feeling that we had had one of our best experiences.

Dined here at this contemporary restaurant last month to celebrate a special birthday and we were given a warm welcome and superb food. The service was attentive and Sebastian recommended some food and wine pairings. I wouldn’t normally have chosen pasta with truffles as a first sharing course followed by the beef wellington signature dish but it worked really well. The meat was cooked to perfection, tender and succulent and the sauce was subtle but delicious. My husband had the duck a l’orange and loved it. Presentation of food on the plate was beautiful. The chocolate fondant was just how it should be, light and slightly crisp on the outside and soft and gooey in the middle, comparing favourably to one of the best I’ve ever had in France.
A lovely clean, friendly place to eat where attention is paid to detail. We enjoyed every mouthful of every dish - it felt like food cooked and served with love and care. We considered it very good value and would definitely return if we find ourselves in Valletta again.

Outstanding place, outstanding food, outstanding service. This is by far the best restaurant I have been in Malta so far. All the dishes were beautifully presented and perfectly cooked, my daughter, who is allergic to gluten, received special attention. I will certainly go back

We visited this restaurant as a small group of 2 on the strength of the reviews on Trip Advisor. It was a public holiday during the Christmas season when Valletta is usually far quieter compared to other locations. Since most reviews recommended making a reservation in advance, we accordingly did so too however, the restaurant was only half full on the day we visited. This was perhaps due to the bad weather which did not really encourage going out.
On arrival, we were immediately seated at the table, served food and wine menus and advised on the daily specials. I had called the day before to check whether fish was available on the menu and was told that there were some options such as prawns or calamari but since we wanted regular fish, the restaurant agreed to get tuna upon my specific request. After a small pause, our meal orders were taken while water and drinks were served.
For starters, we had a tuna tartare and pumpkin soup. For mains, we both had tuna and ordered it cooked rare. During the meal, the kitchen did not disappoint us at each and every step of the way. While the starters were excellent, we were really looking forward to the tuna and for us, it was the high point of the meal. The tuna meat was as soft as marshmallow, pink on the inside and absolutely exquisite in the mouth. Portions were more than adequate and in fact, we struggled to finish the food. Bread came in the form of small, crusty buns which were served piping hot together with a ramekin of herbed butter but balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil were also available. Dessert consisted of a warm slice of baked pudding topped with a walnut and toffee sauce alongside a scoop of (real) vanilla ice cream. We each had a glass of wine since we were not after a full bottle and a bottle of mineral water. There were also complimentary liqueurs at the end.
Service was attentive throughout without being intrusive, the ambiance of the dining room was sophisticated and understated while the restrooms were well presented and more importantly, they were very clean. Overall, the restaurant lived up to our expectations and the meal was satisfying. The price came to EUR112 and we left a tip of EUR8 for a total spend of EUR120. Admittedly, it's a bit on the high side but, from our standpoint, we prefer to spend a little more money and spend it well - especially where a good piece of fish is concerned - rather than spend less for a mediocre result.
In sum, this establishment is up there among the good ones. It delivers the goods and given the quality, in our opinion it is money well spent and your taste buds will thank you. Given the price tag, it would probably be suitable for a special occasion or an occasional meal out if money is not an issue.
We will certainly be visiting again.

First visit but definitely not the last! Warm welcome. Varied menu each dish to die for. We decided to go for a meat both as a starter, with the duck carpaccio followed by duck and lamb cutlets. Devine.
Service present but unassuming.
