We were starting to tire of Maltese cuisine but tonight’s excellent dinner restored our faith! This was traditional food with a modern twist and it was delicious. We had beef carpaccio and fish/seafood stew for starters followed by ragu bolognese and eggplant parmigiana and finished off with lemon sorbet.
The atmosphere — literally in a long narrow down-sloping tunnel — was surprisingly charming and welcoming and the service personable and professional.
Highly recommended.

Great place to taste some local food. We ordered Traditional Maltese Rabbit and Parmigiana. Everything was really tasty. Especially eggplant. A price to quality ratio is fine.

Walked in on spec and were offered the tunnel or the terrace. As the evening was a bit nippy we picked the tunnel - as the title suggests, an interesting place but it was really cold in there too! The food was lovely though and the service attentive.

Really enjoyable meal in a somewhat weird environment as the inside of the restaurant is literally built in a tunnel. Still the service was good, the menu was a little limited but flavors were super so it’s worth trying

In a walled city where better to eat than in the walls . It was amazing , as well as the quaint areas in the walls there was a lovely terrace overlooking the main entrance to the city and it’s own private museum of live in the city . The service was friendly and attentive . The food was excellent ... the Maltese braised rabbit was really tasty and succulent, the chateau briand done just right and the sea bass really fresh. Good wine list . A wonderful experience

We arrived late on our first visit to Malta. We were staying at the Hotel Phoenicia and asked at Reception for a recommend to dine on our first evening. Three restaurants were given and as it was late we chose the closest. We were not disappointed. We were shown to our table and menus were brought and fully explained. The restaurant is built into the ramparts of the city walls and as such is tunnel like. The menu and wine list were varied and we quickly made our choices . Complimentary bread and oils were brought to accompany our wines. We were approached to change tables if we felt in a draught , which we duly did. Our waitress was insistent that she would bring all glasses etc . Our food arrived promptly and was delicious . Our party of four all had different starters and mains , all very good portions , all very tasty AND a very pleasant surprise when the bill arrived.
A thoroughly delicious way to begin our holiday. Our waitress was Melica and she was delightful ; very knowledgeable about the menu and the local wines. She was very engaging and when we visited again three nights later she remembered us and our menu choices. She made us feel very welcome, thank you Melica.

Came by this restaurant by chance whilst visiting Valletta, so glad we did... It is located in an old gun battery associated tunnels in the walls of the city which made for a most perfect setting, and there is a lovely terrace area too with great views and a well! But as it was a chilly evening we chose to dine inside.
Food and service from Alan Ciantar (Resturaunt Manager) and the charming service from Nikola was excellent!!
My husband had the Brown Meagre Fish and I had the Braised Beef Cheeks.. I can honestly say as a foodie and cook of good food from all over the world both dishes were absolutely outstanding!! We also had a desert which was equally delicious!
Hoping to revisit before our return home.
Again compliments to the Chef, and wonderful service.
Thank you!

I came here for my partners surprise birthday lunch and prior to the booking the restaurant team made it clear that they were ready to go out of their way to make it extra special!
Upon arrival, we had our table specially set up for the occasion; it was also the best table in the house.
The waiter made us feel like VIP guests and ensured that we were very well looked after throughout the meal.
This restaurant is a hidden gem, as from the outside you would never know that there is a stunning outdoor terrace with views of the town! + the team are exceptionally friendly and delightful! I would highly recommend this place!
My partner and I still talk about this lunch till this day!

The staff were friendly enough but the service wasnt quite right. We were a large group but the restaurant wasnt full.
Quirky eating down in a cave but it was a bit chilly with gusts of cold air coming in every time the door was opened.
Food was good enough but thought it was a little over priced.

Visited on New Years Day, food was excellent even though the restaurant was packed. Ambiance is warm and our server was great. Will return for sure.

New Year’s Eve dinner in this nice restaurant Rampila in Valletta, atmosphere was nice, server was lacking experience in many ways. Dinner was nice but had to pour ourselves the Champagne we had. Did not expect that and not even once the server asked how the evening is going. Being New Year’s Eve we were expecting to have a fine dining experience being Rampila is one of the good restaurants in Valletta.

Maybe the expectations were higher due to the good reviews but it was actually just an average restaurant. The dishes were all ok but there was not enough flavor or imagination.
The service was great and the restaurant is in a nice setting. Still a good choice for a decent dinner but not anything special.

The concierge at out hotel recommended this restaurant & made the reservation. We did have a problem finding it but once there we were pleasantly surprised. We walked down into the restaurant. Felt like we were in a cave. But thenwere seated on the Outside terrace.
Waiter was helpful suggesting entrees. One of our party tried the rabbit, & was very happy with her choice
Good food, good wine.
Glad we persevered in looking for the restaurant . Well worth it.

Nice find for a nice night out. Great atmosphere the restaurant is built into the ramparts of the city walls. We ate in "the tunnel" definitely a unique experience. The food was good. Everything was cooked well and well seasoned. Very tasty, but nothing that really blew me away.

The atmosphere is great, food is delicious, nice warm bread, good wine list, super friendly service, but while trying their upmost, the servers are not experienced waiters, wine dripping on to the table and the side of the glass, sides missing, only if they manage to train the staff this restaurant would be perfect.

Great as always. Amazing food friendly staff with beautiful surroundings. Come to Malta every year and always book a table. I recommend the outdoor dinning area
