The Veg rice was a surprising mix of flavors but still was surprisingly salty (raisins and pineapple were in the mix) ordered the chicken in coconut curry. This was good w/a hint of spice but salty

Excellent food. We had butter chicken, cumin pulao rice. Lentil dal and mushroom pulao as well as a veg platter, poppodums and garlic naan. With 1 and half bottles of wine the total came to 85. Very reasonable. I've paid more in St Julians/Paceville, for less. Great service too. Highly recommend.

Whilst staying in St Julian’s we visited this restaurant a couple of times. The decor is good and the service was prompt. We ordered vegetarian dishes on both occasions and the food was tasty and portion sizes decent. Try baigan bahara.
The only thing I found about the Indian restaurants in Malta is that they charge a lot for rotis and naan. Not sure why it has to be that expensive but that’s the standard across the island.
The restaurant is 2-3 minutes walk from the Hilton hotel and very convenient if you fancy Indian meal if staying in St Julian’s.

Disappointing and Wine - Wine By the glass - Low Quality and Very Expensive - Howver the food was excellent..

We just ate here and enjoyed it so much we thought we would leave a review! It was reasonably priced - we had a curry and naan each and shared a portion of rice which was plenty. The butter chicken was really nicely cooked and you could tell that the chicken had been marinated in the sauce and not just pre-cooked and added in. The service was good and our food arrived very quickly, although this could just be because the restaurant was very quiet. (20h30 on a Sunday). Would eat here again if we return to the area!

Came here NY eve with my husband and son - was disappointed to find that they had a set menu but it was, by far, a large choice and they were happy to make us other dishes. we had a few not on this menu.
The food is delicious
Best Indian in Malta I would say
Only downside the side dishes are way too expensive - you need to knock at least €2 euros off of these
But if you are in need of an Indian then I suggest you come here

We'd been recommended the Saffron as a place to go as we all like Indian food. I don't know why, but the food didn't live up to the reviews, recommendation or expectation.
For starters we have Onion Bhaji and the Vegetable platter. Both dishes were oily and luke warm. I love a Bhaji, but this was not easily edible and it is th every first time I've ever really had to chew on one to break it up. We ended up leaving most of the starter and that despite being hungry. We therefore pinned our hopes on the main course ordering a mix of 3 dishes.
Again, the food was oily, or in the case of the Biriyani dry to the point where I pinched some of my colleagues sauce to make it more digestible. The chicken in the Biriyani was chewy and there wasn't much of it, I counted 8 very small pieces.
Like the starter we left most of the main course, paid and left.
Would I recommend Saffron, not really, would I put people off going, no not really as reading the reviews others have had a better experience than we did. Will I be going again, no, once was enough for me. I've eaten better Indian food in Malta for less.

This is a nice place close to the bay and houses a cozy ambience. The food tastes real good with nice feel and aura

We dined here the first time in March 2019, and again in November, Saffron will always be on our list when we visit wonderful Malta. Good location, immaculate, spacious dining area. Great selection of Indian cuisine, superbly prepared in generous portion, excellent wine selection, attentive, courteous staff.

Stumbled across this restaurant and were blown away by the quality of food and service there.
Would recommend a visit if you are in the area.

I’ve always been a fan of Indian food and wherever we go We always like to try a local curry. While visiting Malta we tried Saffron and I am very glad we did. The food and service were amazing. In many restaurants a “hot” curry is spiced up by adding chilli oils or extracts which can leave you feeling bloated and uncomfortable , this wasn’t the case at Saffron’s, the meal was made with fresh ingredients and perfectly spiced. If you love a curry and are in the area I heartily recommend coming here!
PS try Keema naan

My new favourite place where to eat indian food. Very friendly staff, we had the saffron chicken, the dal tadka, and garlic naan. Everything was delicious, even the simple white rice was perfectly cooked and had a very nice smell. They use high quality ingredients. The garlic naan was delicious too. But the chicken was outstanding, so light and rich, with apricots and some cardamom in the background. We will return for sure. I'm already missing it.

Tasty Indian in heart of St Julians. Good portion size and also available for takeaway. We have eaten there twice and both times we were v happy with the food.

During a holiday in Malta with the family. Fancied some Asian food and looked on trip. Scores high and thought we would try it
Pros:
- wide selection of veg and non veg food
- serve alcohol on premise including range of wines and beers
- some dishes were good we ordered were good eg mixed grill, nans were fresh.
Cons:
- veg food was quite oily
- lamb chops were really fatty. Hardly any meat on them. However flavour was good
- salmon was not very hot when served and fishy in smell
- service was slow at times - had to ask for the bill 4 times.
Overall ok, some positives and some negatives
