Visited three times, each meal was great. Does very reliable gluten free bread and pasta. Prices were very reasonable. Couple who have taken it over are very friendly and shared the knowledge of the area and Malta in general. Would highly recommend it.

We went to have dinner in this small, family pub/restaurant, in the quiet Seglea neighbourhood.
The owner is one of the most friendly one I have ever meet, we have some nice talks while waiting.
We ordered one spaghetti ai frutti di mare And one bolognese.
The spaghetti were absolutely amazing, dressed perfectly, abundant, cooked to perfection (we asked pasta to be cooked al dente).
Well, I don't give 5 stars just because of a detail I realized when we got back home, we paid 10€ for a bottle of water, a glass of wine and a taste of another wine I didn't like.
Probably a mistake, but still...
My bad i didn't notice in time and I didn't ask.
But about the food, it was a truly excellent dinner.
P. S I wouldn't call that carbonara on the menu "carbonara", it hasn't anything in common with the real one... But I'm Roman, so I'm tali an about roman recipes 🤭

Altogether a strange affair , the food was fine but customer service was semi suspect. We understand that local transportation systems are unpredictable and except this but service generally was poor and when we were stuck because their card reading system failed to work only added to the disappointment of what could have been a good experience

Great food at very reasonable prices all cooked and served by the friendly owners. I would highly recommend a visit. Or two.

I have read many positive reviews about this restaurant and we opted to give it a try. We had no booking but still we were greeted very nicely. The food is of a very good quality and the prices are very fair. The beef tenderloin with brandy mushroom sauce is a real treat and the chocolate fondant is to die for. Friendly and efficient service. We look forward to visit again!

We read the reviews of this great little place and thought: Can it possibly be as good as people say? Happy to say 100% yes. Fresh, home cooked seafood prepared and served by the charming owners. The mussels were a real highlight.

Welcoming and friendly. Little restaurant, large choice of specialities, good cuisine, big plates. Very good memory

We first visited on the day we arrived in Malta, and came back two more times after that because the food was so fresh and delicious. The owners are such lovely people and we are sad to not be able to keep coming by for a meal or a drink! Highly recommend!

This restaurant was a wonderful surprise. Really good homemade food. And the owner (?) was really friendly.
He even told us one of the best secret beaches I’m sure Malta as to offer.
Try it

Amazing people, fresh food cooked to order, lovely atmosphere and good prices. I do reccomend the rabbit (just order it one day before your visit) and the bruschettas. I have never eaten something like that in my life! My holidays lasted 6 days but I had to visit them again - and it was well worth it!

Me and my wife were treated to best bruschetta, garlic mushrooms, bolognese and carbonara of our lives. Great atmosphere and service (prices too!) made us come back for a local delicacy, rabbit, cooked to order, which also was perfect. You can taste the difference that great products and talented cook make with every bite. This might be a small, family business, but look no further if you are seeking authenticity.

Our last night in Senglea as two couples having spent 4 days sight-seeing for out first visit to Malta and staying in a vacation condo! We chose a favorite location of our friends to have a fantastic dinner at Gunners Tavern......they ate dinner each night here! The ribeye steak with mushroom sauce was excellent and highly recommended! The husband/wife team & owners were very friendly and provided excellent service! Even provided us a look at the "Gunners Football team" meeting room and extensive trophy display! What a treat! Try it out!

We stumbled across this restaurant as we was walking past. We noticed there was a few locals drinking and eating there so that's a good enough advert for me. The penne Bolognese was to die for, best I've had and that's my go to dish when visiting Italy. We had great food and wine and the cost was just as good. I highly recommend this place for lunch. The owners are lovely too.

Looking online for somewhere local to where we were staying and came across The Gunners Tavern. Very friendly owner helped us with the menu, explaining everything to us and stopping to chat with us. Food was very, very good. I had the chicken with ham and mozzarella and husband had the steak with pate and Madeira sauce. Both were very tasty and the portion sizes were very generous.
Great food and good host, what more could you want !

I know „Gunners Tavern“ since 20 years as a pub especially on Sunday´s for drinks and bites. Friends recommend us Gunners as a good Restaurant now and it was amazing. We ordered Steaks and Duck Breast and everything was cooked we ordered, if medium, medium well or medium rare, everything was perfect. High quality products, as well the side dishes, no convince products, everything fresh cooked. The place is also pet friendly. Keep it up “Gunners Tavern” we will come back !

This is a fantastic place. The couple that run it are so accommodating and so friendly it makes their excellent food taste even better. I tried their tenderloin and their ribs (2 visits), my wife their chicken and tenderloin, amazing. It melted in your mouth.
As I mentioned the owners are great really friendly, with the wife front of house and the husband is the chef, and excellent team and great hosts.
I would say your visit to Senglea is not complete without at least one visit here.

We dined here last night , right over the road from the boat harbour of Vittoriosa.
The menu is very straightforward with some very good options.
We started with octopus salad and a local Frizzante , Light, fresh and with that citrus flavour we have come to enjoy, it went really well with the Octopus Salad.
The rest of our party had very good steaks in creamy mushroom sauce . All were cooked exactly as requested and the accompanying vegetables were fresh and tasty.
There was crusty bread to soak up the sauces too.
I had the Barbary Duck with pomegranate sauce. This was succulent and moist ,
beautifully presented and with just the right amount of crispy skin. I loved it.
Our very generous hosts also shared a glass of liqueur made from the fruit of the Prickly Pear with us as we did not feel the need for a dessert.

One of the best meals we had in Malta, food was delicious. Staff very accommodating for the children and the owner even went out of her way to contact a distant relative of mine.
Definitely going back there when we are next in Malta.
