The food is superb, the service exceptional. (a special mention to Paul, our waiter, who was so professional, un-intrusive and friendly). We ate a combination of meats, fish, pasta and cheese, all of it wonderful. Reasonably priced, unhurried and in a lovely setting. Thoroughly recommended.

I was looking for somewhere special for my Partners birthday celebration and after reading the reviews and researching the location, I booked the Mdina Restaurant - and i was so pleased I did!
Located in the absolutely stunning Silent City, Mdina (an experience in itself and definitely worth exploring by night) this restaurant was hidden down a small cobbled alley.
Upon entering we were immediately warmly welcomed by the exceptionally friendly and attentive restaurant manager Kristina. The restaurant is exceptionally impressive - sadly the courtyard area was fully booked but we were given a table in the equally impressive and more intimate inner chamber, next to a gorgeous crackling fire.
The menu was equally impressive and Kristina walked us through her favourites and recommendations. We decided to share a starter (as they looked huge) and had the calamari which was deliciously tender and delicious.
I had the house speciality which was rabbit saddle stuffed with maltese sausage - which was wonderfully juicy and tender. My less adventurous partner had the chicken breast with chorizo and artichoke, which agan was perfection on a fork.
The wine list whilst extensive was limited if opting to purchase wine by the glass. This was the only bit of 'constructive feedback' i could find to share.
For dessert, we thought it would be rude not to try something so we opted to share the warm, rum infused apple crumble ... need i say more!?
This restaurant is special in so many ways. Its location, its ambiance, its food and its service all work together to create something truly memorable.. This is a MUST to add to your to do list when in Malta!

We had a lovely evening - set menu which was very pleasant. The courtyard is very romantic and special. Lovely musical accompaniment. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food quality overall very good. Lovely for a special treat night.

I'd read other reviews on The Medina restaurant before we went here. This has to be one of the most romantic places I've ever dined in! What a setting. The found was outstanding and the waiter was very welcoming and polite.I would highly recommend this restaurant if you want to treat someone. Also set in the beautiful old town of Mdina which is definitely worth visiting beforehand.

It always worries me when Public Relations Managers respond to every review with cut and paste glibness that never addresses issues that customers have. This is the case here
This is clearly a tourist, rather than good food restaurant. We had hoped to enjoy a leisurely lunch, but that was not possible as the limited staff were having to process tourists who merely wanted fed and shown the door as quickly as possible without savouring the food
The food was good, but not as good as it should have been at this end of the market
There were not enough staff to cope
So disappointed that the experience did not live up to the expectation. In other words we had been looking forward to good food in elegant surroundings, with an opportunity to savour the experience
And I suggest that the PR manager does not append his usual cut and paste respone as it is not helping his business

I was a bit disappointed but only because we couldnt get in on Tuesday! We had to wait until a day they served dinner - but it was well worth the wait! One of the best meals of my life and the setting matches the food perfectly :)
It's very romantic and wait staff is very attentive but not in a hurry or interrupting by any means.
5/5 would recommend to anyone for any occasion!

We had a wonderful evening meal at the Medina. The food was delicious and beautifully presented (the monkfish carpaccio was phenomenal), and the atmosphere in the delightful courtyard was calm and intimate. The staff were excellent: attentive and knowledgeable without being overbearing. Kristina in particular made sure our evening was perfect and followed up on the smallest of details. This is now one of our favourite restaurants in Malta, and we will certainly be back. Thank you!

We've been on Malta since a week, and it has been the very best food and great local cabernet franc. wines from all over the world available, but we chose local. very well cooked dishes packed with flavour: creamy burrata starter, really fresh fish and a surprisingly delicous sweet potatoe tarte tatin, extra side orders were very fair priced and recommandable. super service, beautiful restaurant - they know all about the little extras!

Nice staff, great platers, cozy place, good view.
Reached the place in a rainy day, the staff and the food made up for it.

This was a disappointment. Lovely building but slow service - without apology. Food was bland at best. bestand lacked

After walking round the beautiful walled city. We ate at the Medina. Charming restaurant. Tastefully decorated. Attentive and friendly staff. Good menu with ample choice. Good wine list. Local rabbit dish was delicious. Priced correctly. Recommended.

My pilgrimage to Malta would never be the same without my date at this place. An evening stroll through the gently lit streets of this beautiful mini-city followed by walking into this historical restaurant, glass roofed, intimate and charming. The menu is well stocked with local specialities of course including rabbit and extensive local wine list. I had a light dinner as it was my last night in the country. Only foody criticism I should offer is the fruit gels in the ice cream...hmmm(?) All was super although getting the right member of staff to serve you is important otherwise its a little agitating....I'll be back, as someone slightly more famous than I once said......

Went there with a group for a menu. Very cosy but noisy place because of the bad acoustic. The food was Ok but nothing special for Maltese standards. The wines were excellent and the service was good.

Had lunch here on a day exploring Malta by bus. Not too many restaurant options in old Mdina so chose this one just because we stumbled upon it and it looked nice.
The title says it all. We were more than happy with the seating in the lovely courtyard. We definitely liked the food. But it took ages to get it from the kitchen which isn' t ideal when you have a bus to catch. What a shame, and seems to be a recurring problem here. Almost five stars though.

If a little expensive like most of Malta has become over the years, this restaurant is very nice, good service and good food. The courtyard is a great setting.

Beautiful courtyard with a fresh-feeling, open space.
The waiters offered very good service and the food was deliciously tender and well-prepared.

Myself and my husband dined in the courtyard of this restaurant and must say that it is has a very beautiful and romantic setup. First plate and second plates portions were quite abundant. Food was very good. One thing to note that for my personal taste, sauces used in the second plates ruined slightly the meat dishes we chose but all in all everything was good. Also to note, wines and food presented on the menu are overpriced for what they are. Service was good.
