The Orchard Restaurant

First time at this place. Whilst I am not one for buffets I decided to pay this restaurant a visit as it was recommended by friends. Vast selection of starters and a Sunday roast to follow apart from soups and pasta dishes. Wine and water offered at a price which is unbelievable. To top it all, a dining area which allows one the space to dine in peace. Service is impeccable.

I have indeed a great experience with this great time. From the quoting stage to the execution I have nothing but praise. They did great in such short notice. Special thanks from the heart! We live in Malta and spend a lot of time in Switzerland as well. We visit the Orchard Restaurant a lot and must say it is consistent of very good food, we even asked to speak to compliment the chef lots of time, because their cuisine does not get appreciated enough. The staff is exceptional, always friendly, smiling and welcoming. We love coming here because the food is very good and the staff recognizes one, which doesn't happen often. This was an organised get together/reunion with friends, excellently organised. The food was excellent in taste and beautifully displayed. The service left nothing to be desired. Well done to all. Will be back.

I organised a group lunch on Sunday 20 JAN in the beautiful internal courtyard -total 82 persons - and we were totally satisfied - Excellent value for money - very varied and fresh antipasto - excellent choice and great selection of all the other food items - mains - desert - abundant and very good. We had very attentive staff and a great venue - Highly recommended for group functions. Special thanks to the Chef Mr James Rizzo and Ms Tamara Krivokuca - Food and Beverage Supervisor - and all the waiting & kitchen staff .

This is part of a retirement home facility yet although there are a number of over 50s around, it feels like a restaurant, yet sedate. Separate rooms cater for the residents, but near the buffet also had a rather fetching mini-skirted live singer, and the Formula One racing on! Portions are copious and the choice abundant.

We went to The Orchard restaurant for our Christmas Staff Party and the management asked us whether we preferred a set menu. The set menu prepared for us was great and every item, be it soup or risotto, the beef, fish or chicken and the deserts were simply perfect. The service was great as well. The place was nicely decorated and very welcoming as well. The restaurant is situated in a nursing home but you never would have noticed since you feel as if you're entering into one of the best hotels.

We went to the Orchard for the first time through an article we saw on the times. When we arrived at the restaurant there was nobody there and we waited a good minutes till a waiter showed up. Waiter seemed flustered and confused and asked us if we wanted to eat. We were given the menus with no explanation of the specials we saw on the board and after 10 minutes he came again and took our order. Music in the restaurant was very gloomy and sad, which is a pity cause the restaurant looked pretty inside but floor was a bit dirty.In the meanwhile another table of 2 elderly ladies walked in , and they decided to sit right next to us in an empty restaurant. When the waiter came and took their order they seemed to order something off the menu which the waiter struggled to comprehend. In the meanwhile our food arrived and to our surprise it was really really good. presentation food was well presented and flavors were amazing. it seemed odd that a restaurant that has such low quality service and yet such great food, especially the risotto with pecorino cheese. When we asked for the restaurant manager to point out some issues like the music and dirty floor and that most of the time there was no one on the floor so we had to walk outside in another corridor to order drinks in the bar, we were advised that they had no restaurant manager or supervisor! In the meanwhile the couple next to us were very rude to the waiter and honestly they ruined our evening with their complaining and moaning throughout the evening. In the end the head chef came to our table to check on us and he was very nice. a young man named james, he worked in the uk and it showed in his professional manner and how passionate he sounded about the food. When we pointed out the issues to him about the restaurant he apologised to us and gave us a complimentary drink. at least we got acknowledged by someone! what a shame that this restauarnt has such great food but such low poor quality service. would definetly return for the food, but not for the restaurant.

we went to the Orchard through a piece on the local news where they interviewed their chef and he worked Jamie Oliver so we thought that it would be good. we werent disappointed. place looks amazing, it's like walking in a 5 star hotel, with nice decor, nice bar with the pool next to it. restaurant was very nice and cosy. our server was very friendly, nick and since we were the only people in the restaurant we got great attention. we took a gamble and asked if the chef was there and we were lucky as shortly after that he came to our table and introduced himself to us. he was very soft spoke and polite, but professional at the same time. he explained the menu to us, asked us if we had any allergies and any likes or dislikes. we went by his recommendations and we werent disappointed. i took the risotto with pecorino which was rich and creamy and my friend took the duo of fish which was nice and very well presented. dessert Chef James made us a little surprise of warm fudge with butterscotch sauce and toffe popcorn. it was divine. i was close to asking for seconds! all in all a great dining experiece especcially by the attention we got by the head chef james. you can clearly see that working abroad has made him into a proffesional chef with eye to attention to detail. we will definetly return to this restauarnt and bring our friends!

We don't usually opt for a buffet for our Sunday family meal, but the great price offered was hard to resist(drinks included). The company that runs this restaurant own other hotels around the island, and their buffets are very popular. There was a nice selection of cold starters, 2 soups, 2 pasta, as well as 3 carvery options. There was also a fish main course option. There was also quite a variety of very good desserts, as well as cheese. Complimentary parking is provided on site. Restaurant is not big, so booking is recommended. Entertainment was nice and service was good. Highly recommended.

Extremely good value for money. Ample good food and free flowing drinks. Free parking though even street parking adequate. Bit short staffed but not a problem for a buffet Sunday lunch.

Went for the Sunday buffet. The restaurant was full and it was a good atmosphere in the restaurant. The buffet is well prices and it also includes a bottle of local wine per couple plus water. The selection of food was not bad and there was a bit of everything the chose. Two soups to start. Green salad and a selection of other mixed salads. Some smoked fish and a little bit of seafood. There was some simple sushi but I would stay away from that. The rest wasn't bad, just a bit tasteless, under seasoned. The selection of hot dishes was nice but again, a bit bland. Apart from that is was value for money and one couldn't complain about it. Would go again now that I know what to expect.
