Filippo, Italian Restaurant

Stopped off here for lunch and were treated to the best service, the best food and the best dining experience we’d had since arriving in Malta. Would 100% recommend to anyone!

We had a very good lunch today with a cousin from New Zealand. Starting with a variety of antipasti then a very good tasty Pagella fish for our main course. Finishing off with a tasty pistaccio gateaux. Even the Sicilian wine was very good. The service was first class.

Having visited Malta 3 times, I had the chance to have the best experience in a restaurant in Filippo’s restaurant. We had rockfish , crayfish and carpaccio. Don’t miss that gem in Marsaxlokk.

We were there for lunch. The food was good though would have preferred if my pasta was less salty. However the main reason I am writing this has got nothing to do with the quality of food. First the manager/owner are both smokers and have the habit of smoking by the entrance outside. Besides bothering patrons outside, the smell of cigarette smoke wafted through the open door and we could smell it from our table inside. Second point: Dessert was presented in a single-use throw-away container. With efforts being made by many to avoid single-use plastic I would have expected a different attitude. And this is NOT a cheap restaurant. Am sure both issues can be easily addressed.

Delicious sicilian food, all the way to dessert. Everything was delicious and the owner made sure we enjoyed our meal. Very pleasant experience. Highly recommended

Four of us stopped in for lunch on a Sunday Market Day. We were quickly seated and greeted by our waiter. Wines were reasonably priced and varied. Menu was extensive and informative. Food was delicious, and well-paced. The owner introduced himself, and seemed interested in our satisfaction. He sent free desserts to us as we were preparing to leave.

We had lunch here. We both had the Grilled Swordfish with pine nuts, orange and lemon. It was very good. The service was first class. An enjoyable lunch.

During a day trip to Marsaxlokk we had lunch at this restaurant’s terrace. We sat right next to the water with a lovely view over the harbour. We had a beer, red wine and two pizzas (a calzone and a vegetarian option). The calzone had a bit too much dough and too little filling, but tasted good. My vegetarian pizza was tasty. When the waiter brought our bill, I asked if he had included the drinks - I thought he must have forgotten those since the total price was so ridiculously low! I don’t remember the exact price, but I think it was around €12. For a lunch and drinks for two, sitting right on the water front!

We visited here on our first night and had a great meal. Plenty of fresh bread. The spaghetti bolognese was excellent. Really good service and food.

Lovely food in this restaurant, a bit pricey in comparison to others locally but you will get authentic Italian food here.

Great stop for lunch... on a trip to Marsaxlokk walked in to this little family run restaurant, good suggestions on what to eat and drink... so took a bottle of Glicine (Sicilian white wine) accompanied to for linguine with scampi, swordfish and Maltese king prawns! Everything was fresh and delicious! We also had octopus salad which was superb very tender octopus! Desert we’re made from Filippo the son... great tiramisu and torta al pistacchio!! Definitely coming back if around!!! Thank you!!

We came across this restaurant by chance while on a day trip to Marsaslox, the food was delicious, beautifully cooked and presented, alongside this the fish was very fresh, the best fish we have eaten for some time. The owner was very welcoming and attentive, we never felt rushed during our visit, he appreciated our custom and made us feel like long lost friends.

We came here based on a local’s recommendation and it was very good. We are outside on the terrace overlooking the port and the market. Upon the owners recommendation I took the king prawns freshly caught. It was delicious. Simple but delicious. We had the octopus tartare and it was very fresh and delicious as well. Grilled calamari was well cooked , melting in our mouth and seasoned to perfection. I would have given you a 5* review but the fact that the lobster was alive in a see trough box in front of me during my lunch, disturbed me. I am obviously not vegan but it was disturbing to have that poor little lobster suffer in front me. I don’t want to see that while I have lunch. Also his legs were sticking out of the box and everything was going through it and I’m sure it hurt him. I observed the reaction of the people walking by and a lot of them had the same reaction as me. It’s maybe better to keep it behind closed doors instead of showing it off.

Excellent food, excellent service, super friendly and helpful owner. The best seafood we ever had. Crudo plate and raw red shrimps were unbelievable! The best freshly made tiramisu and ricotta cake we ever had! Grazie mille, Filippo!!!

An excellent restaurant specialising in seafood. Delicious food - freshly prepared crudo and fish cooked to perfection. Very good service and good ambiance for outside dining. Inside area is smaller. Highly recommended.

Food was all good, service was a bit rushed, waiters made it a point to show us they wanted us out as quickly as possible. We had starters, mains, wine, desserts, coffee and liquors. Pasta could have been fresh given its 12-15 euros per portion. Expected not to be served measly 2cl shots after all the items ordered. Better options in marsaxlokk for sure for the same price in terms of quality and price.

Excellent dinner as always...never disappointed. Delicious fresh ingredients and gracious hosts. Freshest, local fish right on the quay of the picturesque village of Marsaxlokk.
